Respected universities bring their programs to the Higher Ed Center, close to home and built around your life.
Through partnerships with King University, Radford University, Virginia Commonwealth University, the Appalachian College of Pharmacy, UVA Wise, Emory & Henry, and Virginia Tech, students can earn degrees and certificates right here in Abingdon. Programs span high-demand fields like nursing, pharmacy, and medical laboratory science, giving the region access to credentials and careers that once required a long drive or a move away.

Appalachian College of Pharmacy
The Appalachian College of Pharmacy offers their Doctorate of Pharmacy program in a distance learning format at the Higher Education Center.
Emory & Henry University
We’re proud to partner with Emory & Henry University to offer on-campus admissions support by appointment. The Center is also home to Healthcare Excellence Academy Lab School (HEALS) classes, advancing hands-on learning opportunities in healthcare.
King University
King University offers a Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practioner degree in a HyFlex format, with classes held weekly at the Higher Education Center.
Radford University
Radford University offers online undergraduate and graduate programs with on-site admissions support at the Center.
Virginia Tech Southwest Center
The Virginia Tech Southwest Center is proud to offer customized training and professional development programs to support you through a lifetime of learning.
Virginia Commonwealth University
Virginia Commonwealth University offers two programs at the Center: A bachelor’s degree in Medical Labratory Science and a Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia.
UVA Wise
UVA Wise offers professional development opportunities through the Higher Education Center.
Virginia Highlands Community College offers Emergency Medical Technician training at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center.
