Not every career begins in a classroom. For Brayden, it started with a passion for autobody and a chance to learn by doing.
After discovering his interest through the autobody program at the Washington County Career & Technical Education Center, Brayden took the next step through the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center’s Regional Apprenticeship Program. Today, he’s earning a paycheck while training at Pioneer Chevrolet, gaining real-world experience alongside skilled professionals.
Regional Apprenticeships offer a different pathway to a successful career. Instead of spending years preparing before entering the workforce, apprentices earn wages from day one while developing the technical skills employers need. At the same time, local businesses build a stronger workforce by training employees in their own shops and facilities.
Brayden’s experience is one example of how apprenticeships are creating opportunities for both students and employers across Southwest Virginia.
