Appalachian College of Pharmacy Summer Camp Introduces Students to Careers in Healthcare

For one day, students stepped into the role of a pharmacist.

Mixing medications, practicing patient assessments, and working with a human simulator were just a few of the hands-on experiences awaiting participants during the Appalachian College of Pharmacy Summer Camp at the Higher Ed Center.

Designed for students entering seventh grade and above, the free camp introduced participants to the pharmacy profession through a variety of hands-on learning experiences. Throughout the day, students learned from Appalachian College of Pharmacy faculty, conducted patient assessments, explored pharmacy compounding techniques, practiced pharmacotherapy using a human simulator, and gained insight into the admissions process.

The camp gave students an opportunity to explore a rewarding healthcare career while experiencing the kind of hands-on learning that helps turn curiosity into future possibilities.

The Higher Ed Center is proud to partner with Appalachian College of Pharmacy to host programs like this that connect students with educational opportunities and help strengthen the region’s future workforce.
