Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center to Host Two STEM Camps This Summer

The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center (SWVHEC) is pleased to announce it will host two STEM-focused summer camps in this summer, designed to engage and inspire students through interactive, hands-on learning experiences.

The Energy Education Academy Camp, open to rising middle school students, will introduce participants to key concepts in energy production, sustainability, and conservation. Through a series of science-based activities and experiments, students will gain a deeper understanding of the role energy plays in our everyday lives and in the broader global context. The camp will take place June 16-20 at the Center.

For rising high school students, the Center will offer SWVA Can Code!, a free summer camp focused on web development and digital problem-solving. Participants will learn fundamental coding skills while applying technology to address real-world challenges in their communities. The program also emphasizes collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity — essential skills for success in the modern workforce. The camp will take place July 14-18 at the Center.
