College for Older Adults Fall Semester Begins September 15

Adults age 50 and older are invited to explore new interests, meet new people, and enjoy six weeks of learning through the College for Older Adults.

A new season of learning and connection begins September 15 at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center.

The College for Older Adults invites adults age 50 and older to take part in six weeks of affordable, engaging classes designed around curiosity and the joy of learning. Participants can explore subjects ranging from Appalachian biodiversity, astronomy, literature, and history to travel and everyday technology.

Classes are led by professors, retired educators, and community experts who enjoy sharing their knowledge in an approachable and welcoming environment. There are no tests, grades, or homework. Participants simply choose the classes that interest them and enjoy learning alongside others from across the region.

The Fall 2026 semester runs September 15 through October 22. Registration Day will be held September 3 at the Higher Ed Center. A $40 membership provides access to the full semester, although some special classes may have an additional materials or admission fee.

The College for Older Adults creates opportunities for lifelong learners to stay active, build friendships, and continue discovering new interests close to home.
