Anesthesia
Virginia Commonwealth
University (VCU) is an urban, public research institution enrolling
undergraduate, graduate, and health professional students. VCU
offers 162 baccalaureate, master's, doctoral, professional and certificate
degree programs, providing students with the unique opportunity to pursue
their own educational goals and making VCU the most comprehensive university

The Department of Nurse Anesthesia is one of nine departments in the School
of Allied Health Professions at VCU.
The Department was first in the nation to offer a Masters Degree in Nurse
Anesthesia some 23 years ago and continues as a national leader today;
ranking as the best graduate nurse anesthesia program in the nation by US
News and World Report in 2004. Through the School of Allied Health
Professions, the Department of Nurse Anesthesia also participates in a
unique distance learning
Ph.D Program in Health Related Sciences.

The Department of Nurse Anesthesia offers its Graduate Program in Nurse
Anesthesia on VCU's Medical College of Virginia Campus (below).

This is a challenging 72-credit hour,
seven academic semester program leading to a Master of Science in Nurse
Anesthesia Degree. In Abingdon Virginia, the Department of Nurse Anesthesia,
partners with the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center and a cohort of
hospitals in southwest Virginia and Tennessee to offer its program via
state-of-the-art distance technology. In keeping with the philosophy of the
Department, the distance program is dedicated to providing high quality,
graduate level, Nurse Anesthesia training for the residents of Southwest
Virginia.
