Two Hillsville Elementary Teams Advance to International FIRST LEGO League Competition

Two robotics teams from Hillsville Elementary School have earned a spot on the international stage after ranking in the top five in Virginia in the FIRST LEGO League. The teams advanced from a field of more than 190 teams statewide, marking a significant achievement for the school and the region.

FIRST LEGO League is an international STEM program that challenges students to design, build, and program autonomous robots using LEGO technology. Teams also research a real world problem and present an innovative solution to a panel of judges, combining engineering, creativity, teamwork, and public speaking.

The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center proudly sponsors the Hillsville Elementary teams and serves as host of the regional FIRST LEGO League tournament each year. The annual event brings student teams from across the region to compete, collaborate, and showcase their skills in robotics and innovation.

The Center is honored to support their journey and looks forward to cheering them on as they continue to demonstrate excellence in innovation and problem solving on a global stage. Read more about their achievements by clicking here.
