This program will work with special needs teachers, aides and parents to develop strategies and techniques for continuing services to special needs children during this pandemic. This program will be delivered October 1, 2020 from 4:00-5:00 pm if funding is available.

We will offer a workshop for Science Lab Teachers Grades 8-12. Teachers will learn how to become comfortable demonstrating lab experiments in the virtual environment. They will need to develop strategies and safe measures for students to perform lab experiments at home.

Making the most of Virtual Physical Education

Virginia Public Schools require all students to receive health and physical education instruction at all instructional levels in K-10. But how can you conduct an effective health and physical education instruction program virtually? This workshop will provide you strategies, ideas and resources designed to help you continue to provide high-quality, standards-based lessons despite teaching virtually during COVID-19. You will also be given an opportunity to share best practices along with any virtual resources, apps, and lesson plans that you have found helpful.

Professional Development Workshop for Coaches –Dr. Stefan Duma

Dr. Duma will provide a virtual professional development program for all coaches in southwest Virginia on Safety, Helmets, Face Shields and other topics about safety for athletes and their involvement in sports during COVID 19.

Hybrid or Virtual? Why Technology Skills Matter in Today’s Classroom —Heather Askea

Tuesdays, October 27 and November 3 4:00-5:00 pm

Session 1: This session will cover the essential technology tools and skills needed for those who are new or do not feel prepared for virtual learning. This group will start with basics and become comfortable using technology and delivering instruction virtually.

Session 2: This program will serve teachers who began virtual teaching last year but are still uncomfortable with technology. This program will help these teachers develop lesson plans, visual aids, etc. that will help kids in the learning process. Teachers from Session 1 may also join Session 2 to build on strategies and techniques along with their peers.
