So what is the REAL Tech Experience?
Creativity, imagination, critical thinking, and teamwork make tomorrow’s innovators. Barter Theatre’s Project REAL (Reinforcing Education Through Artistic Learning) and the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center recognize the need to provide an environment to inspire the creative problem solvers of the future. This week-long REAL Tech Experience will give students the opportunity to explore how to solve a real-world problem through the application of science, technology, engineering, theatre arts, and math concepts (STEAM). REAL Tech Experience is for rising 4th-8th graders
Cost is $150
Students will learn to:
analyze a real-world problem
connect a real-world problem personally to their lives
imagine and create possible solutions to a real-world problem
develop successful communication skills
design and build a LEGO EV3 robot
program a LEGO EV3 robot to successfully complete challenges
utilize theatre tools as a means of creating solutions to a problem
design a presentation using theatre tools
work in a team
A Day in the Life of a REAL Tech Experience
8:30AM-9:00AM Students Arrive and Prepare for the Day
9:00AM-9:20AM Group Warm Up with Barter’s Project REAL Teaching Artists
9:25AM-11:00AM Real-World Problem Hands- On Activity with Teaching Artists
11:35AM-1:30PM LEGO Robotics with Robotics Experts
1:30PM-1:45PM Snack Time
1:45PM-3PM: CHALLENGE Presentation Group Work
3PM Pick Child Up
3:15PM- 5PM Optional Supervision for an Additional $5 a Day
If your child shows any interest in science, technology, engineering, theatre arts, or math, (STEAM) this game-changing camp will allow him or her to develop skills by creating and programming a LEGO robot while learning how to problem solve with the power of the imagination. All levels of interest are encouraged to apply and join the week of empowering knowledge.
Due to food allergies, student's will need to bring a packed lunch, drink, and snacks. We will provide water only.
There are only 50 spots available and the registration deadline is July 1. Cost is $150. Early bird registration is $140 if you register before April 17, 2017.
