Virginia Tech will offer Clinical Supervision in Virginia | |||||||||
|
(Abingdon, VA) The Virginia Tech Southwest Center in Abingdon is hosting a two day training, “Clinical Supervision in Virginia,” at the Virginia Tech Southwest Center, Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon on Thursday and Friday, March 25-26, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. both days. This two day training provides 15 hours of the 20 contact hours required to supervise LPC residents, and highlights the legal, ethical, theoretical, and practical requirements associated with providing clinical supervision. This training is conducted by Dr. Gerard Lawson, an associate professor in Virginia Tech’s counselor education program. He is a licensed professional counselor in Virginia, national certified counselor, holds the approved clinical supervisor credential, and has practiced, researched, and published in the area of clinical supervision. Workshop objectives include: Definition, Roles and Functions of Clinical Supervisors; Legal and Ethical Requirements of Clinical Supervision Practice; Theoretical and Developmental Models of Supervision; Supervision Modalities: Individual, Group, Triadic, Etc.; Specific Supervision Strategies; Opportunities to observe videotaped counseling and supervision sessions; and Opportunities to practice supervision in group exercises.
