The Ethics of Self-Care for Helping Professionals

The Virginia Tech Southwest Center in Abingdon is hosting a one day workshop “The Ethics of Self-Care for Helping Professionals” at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon on Friday,  February 19, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

In this workshop, Dr. Alan Forrest will explore the challenging topic of self-care and impairment, and the ethical responsibility many overworked clinicians need to confront in examining themselves and their colleagues.  The professional code of ethics will be reviewed along with the exploration of awareness of self-care, the recognition of stressors, vicarious trauma, signs of impairment, and ways to integrate balance and vitality into our professional (and personal) lives.
