Except in the case of extreme weather conditions, classes in the HEC are canceled only by the individual instructors. The Higher Education Center does not close when Virginia Highlands Community College closes due to inclement weather, nor do we follow a delay or snow schedule. Closing of the main campus in Wise does not automatically cancel Abingdon classes, but does cancel those originating from the Wise campus on interactive television.
